Sunil Gavaskar Slams Former Cricketers for Harsh Criticism of Pakistan Team

Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has strongly criticized former Pakistani cricketers for their harsh remarks against the national team following their disappointing performance in the Champions Trophy. Pakistan was eliminated in the group stage without securing a single win, suffering defeats against New Zealand and India, while their match against Bangladesh was washed out.

Gavaskar questioned the double standards of ex-players who frequently criticize the current squad. “When you see former Pakistani cricketers attacking the team, you have to ask—did you win every match you played for Pakistan? You didn’t,” he stated. He urged former players to support the struggling team instead of constantly criticizing them in public.

The legendary batsman stressed that the team needs encouragement, not negativity, especially during difficult times. “The Pakistan team needs backing from both fans and ex-cricketers. Some of the criticism is too severe. Not all, but most former players act as if the teams they played for never lost a game,” he remarked.

While acknowledging the frustration of fans, Gavaskar reminded critics that losing is a part of the game. “I understand why fans feel disappointed, but those who have played at the highest level should know that winning isn’t always guaranteed. Even strong teams lose to weaker opponents,” he explained.

He also highlighted the unpredictability of cricket, emphasizing that no player can deliver match-winning performances every time. “Not every batter scores a century in every match. Not every bowler takes five wickets every time he bowls. That’s just how cricket works,” he concluded, urging former players to be more constructive in their feedback.
