Lenovo made waves at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 by showcasing two innovative laptops—one with a foldable display and another with solar charging capabilities.
ThinkBook Flip – A Foldable Laptop with Dual Screens
Lenovo introduced the ThinkBook Flip, an 18-inch foldable laptop that transforms into multiple modes. The screen folds horizontally, creating a dual-display setup—one on the front and another on the back. When fully extended, it works like a large-screen laptop, but users can also fold it flat for a tablet-like experience.
Yoga Solar PC – A Laptop That Charges with Sunlight
Another standout concept was the Yoga Solar PC, which integrates solar panels into its lid for alternative power charging. Despite having built-in solar cells, the laptop remains lightweight and slim.
Lenovo claims the solar panel design achieves a 24% energy conversion rate by cleverly repositioning the usual gridlines behind the solar cells, allowing better light absorption. The laptop is also ultraportable, weighing only 1.1 kg, making it as convenient as any modern ultrabook.
Solar Charging: An Extra Boost, Not a Full Replacement
According to Lenovo, 20 minutes of sunlight can provide around one hour of video playback. However, real-world performance may vary. If used in bright light throughout the day, the solar panels could extend battery life by an extra hour—a handy feature for users on the go.
Will These Laptops Hit the Market?
Lenovo often showcases futuristic concepts at MWC and CES, but not all of them make it to commercial production. While these laptops look promising, it remains to be seen if they will be available for purchase in the future.
